Wessel's rules: Each athlete gets up to 3 max attempts to perform the log lift. If athlete fails to perform the log lift within the 60 second timer, they can not make any more attempts. Once an athlete has made 3 attempts, they can not make any more attempts.

  • Athlete may press, push press, push jerk or split jerk the log overhead to the locked out position.
  • Athlete must wait for the “good” down signal before lowering the log.
  • The athlete must lower the log under control. No deliberate dropping of the log will be permitted. The athlete may forfeit his attempt in doing so.
  • Good Lift: Log locked out under control, overhead with arms straight, head through, legs and feet parallel and stationary.
  • Athlete may make any number of attempts within the 60 second timer.

Scoring

Scoring will be determined by fastest time completed or longest distance achieved in a Division/Weight Class.

Setup

There will be two platforms side-by-side in Iron Mongers Gym. This is a trump style event. Each Athlete will choose one of three Atlas Stones designated for his/her Division/Weight Class. There will be a stone pad/mat for each platform to drop the Atlas Stone onto.

Order

Athletes' order is by overall standing in reverse order, lowest scoring athlete to the highest, by division and weight class.

Rules

Before the round begins, Athletes must choose one out of three Atlas Stones assigned to their Division/Weight Class. The stone can be lifted from the floor straight to the shoulder, or lapped and then cleaned and/or rolled up the body until the stone fully rests on top of either the left or right shoulder. To complete a rep, one of the hands must be placed on top or on the side of the stone so it is steady on the shoulder. The other arm must be extended away from the body either to the side or to the front. At that point, the judge will give the "Down!" signal and the Athlete will drop the stone onto a pad directly in front of him/her. The goal is to complete as many reps as possible in the 90 second time period.

  • Athletes will choose their Atlas Stone to lift and the loaders will make sure their platform is set.
  • At the sound of the whistle, athlete has 90 seconds to complete as many reps as possible.
  • Equipment Allowed: Tacky Towels, knee sleeves, elbow sleeves, belt, chalk, and, grip shirt. One standard-length elbow sleeve on each arm is permitted.
